Five Easy Pieces
poetry
Soul Rendezvous (after Asuka Hotaru) When the night looks the other way and the moon grabs the clouds for cover and the clouds call Make Up for a little blush our secret immortal selves slip out to make their acquaintance well before eye or hand. Veridream It's the one where I’m standing at the top of the mountain and waving the others to come along but there are no tracks no sherpa, just echoes of a long fall. Eclipsara Your body continues to go through the motions long after you’re gone. Some warmth is still there like an electric blanket beginning to short circuit. Is it snow you seek? You’re so far north now. I don’t know who you are. Won’t you come back? Your body and I miss you. Lacrimaire When your mind is empty or filled with dopamine the music swells like an untelevised act of kindness. Typhoons of tears you’ve held back for years create a sinkhole. A self-contained well to drown in. Novalepsis I’ve felt the terror of beauty trembled at her knee. Parting the order from the chaos humbly gaining entrance. Was lifted to the highest branch of a tree. Felled by a single snowflake containing the whole universe. Tasting like a vanilla wafer the three of us dissolving on my tongue.

Five pieces in which you make it look easy. This is the kind of thing I wish I could write more of. Usually I get stuck halfway between the universe and groundhog day. Thanks for moving the goalposts!
All of these other comments are so intelligent (indeed, I hate following Asuka in any comments). So, I'll sum it up in one word: wow! There, don't you think Shakespeare comment "Brevity is the soul of wit" was mean for me, not Polonius? Thanks, Ray!
